What is SPLASH?
Our mission is to build awareness of the Delaware River Watershed with exciting, hands-on educational experiences designed for people of all ages.
SPLASH stands for: Student Participation in Learning Aquatic Science & History

Since 2004 the SPLASH Floating Classroom has delighted school and adult groups with 1.5 hour educational sails on the beautiful Delaware River in Lambertville, NJ, and with engaging classes taught at our site in the D&R Canal State Park, and in schools and other locations.
Students learn in a hands-on way about our watershed and ways to protect it; the importance of “river critters” (macroinvertebrates); the chemistry of the river and the balance needed to sustain life; the environmental history of the Delaware River through the local hero the American Shad; Birds of the Delaware River, and more.
Each class on or near the River is a great opportunity to see wildlife - bald eagles, cormorants, water snakes, or blue herons. See for yourself the history of our unique region – a crossing spot of the Continental Army, the homes and subjects of the New Hope Impressionists, the Bucks County Playhouse, a real shad fishery, the
canals and the crossing point for canal boats, and much more.
